Soooo, I had NO idea that it was even possible to wear your whisk out! (That's what she said, lol)
Yes, in case you havent noticed my mind is always on whisking, whipping, whatever.
Anywho, here's to a broken whisk!
I was washing it under very hot water when this bad boy just POPPED in my hand! It has been a very rough week - first a second degree burn from working with 280° sugar pouring down my fingers (by the way, when this happens DON'T put your finger in your mouth to stop the burning! You just wind up with a blistered tongue as well!)
Mistakes and mishaps, they WILL happen. It's how you overcome them, that really matters, or rather, how you hide the mistake -LOL!
Well, this was not the best time for my whisk to break at 10 p.m. while trying to pump out 3 more cakes and 4 dozen cupcakes for weekend orders!
I searched the internet for a replacement, of course I could only find 2 and would take almost a week to get here. Overnighting was out of the question at $70!
So, I made the call to my mother in law to see if I might be able to borrow her mixer. I already knew what I was getting into. Her mixer is from the 70's and her hand mixer not far behind! I'm used to a 5.5 QT mixer and this one can only fit a bowl large enough for a single batch of cake batter rather than the double batch I'm used to. I had quickly forgotten how easy the little mixer is, AND it sits on a rotating disk so the bowl rotates as its being mixed. I've been so spoiled with my large mixer the last 4 years!
But I have to say, this oldie is a definite goodie!
And it was able to get the job done! Thanks little Sunbeam 🌞 You saved the day!
